Could someone please measure the width of the Nav screen on an S1?
My car doesn't have the Nav system and I actually don't want one, but I'm looking for a good place to mount some extra gauges and make things look almost factory.
I also happen to have a single-DIN sized Apexi gauge that's less than 1/2" thick and that got the gears in my head turning - I'm wondering if that would fit the surround of the nav hood if I removed the actual nav screen. Could anybody please measure the width of the screen including frame?
Some of the car PC/tablet build threads give the dimension of the tablet people have managed to fit into the frame of the screen, so I'm pretty sure there is enough space, but it would be good to get confirmation from someone before I blow $200+ on the hood and screen...

The screen size is a tiny bit less than 7 inches. A 7 inch tablet will fit fine. Just make sure it has on screen buttons, as the physical buttons will be covered from the navigation housing.

@lifelongpilot, thank you for the measurement, that's very helpful.
Nisaja, thanks for the screen size measurement. I'm not actually planning to put a tablet into the frame. I happen to have one of these Apexi gauges on the shelf from a previous project and am trying to figure out if I can fit them halfway cleanly using some modified stock parts.
