Crazy power loss and rough idle

A little background on the car.. She has 69k, new plugs, coils, wires, air filter and oil change. I have gone through and checked all the wires and even resecured the spark plugs just to make sure. The maf was taken out and cleaned with maf cleaner while the coils were being done. I recently installed a full AP exhaust with midpipe and since has been throwing p0420 code as expected.

Now for the problems.. I get up to 5th-6th gear and for some reason I dont have any power until I hit 4k. When I do finally get to high rpms the engine put off some wicked sound like someone is shuffling cards.. Idk how else ro explain it lol. After I get off the throttle it gets even worse and you can feel it (power loss) through all gears except 1st and second while on the throttle. At a stop light the car almost feels like it wants to die but picks itself up and continues to rattle like crazy. I took it out on a trip today and threw a code p0301 which I belive is rotor 1 misfire. I'm at a loss and I'm assuming my next course if action is to go in for a compression test but I have no clue.

I'm new to this site and to my car so I'm trying to get her back on the road where she belongs. I have a video of the engine noise and some exhaust noise. Disregard the rattle, it touches the frame😑

Have you taken a vacuum reading at warm idle? Also do you have a way to view data from the ECU?

I have not as of yet since it just started happening a week ago but im looking to do it Friday. I will search how to do it all through the forums cause I know its been posted before.

I don't have a scanner tool that reads data, only clears codes but im sure I can get my hands on one this weekend. I have a question tho.. Would our car start dumping more fuel if there was a vacuum leak? Im noticing that it feels as if its trying to flood itself at idle after driving

No if there was a vacuum leak it would generally run leaner.

The rattling noise sounds like something is loose, could be a combination of things too, search for the SSV actuator knock issue and test that. Also do you have a cat installed?

Okay then I think we can rule out vacuum leak but im still going to get the tool this weekend to have it. Like the car starts fine warm and cold, it just has this wicked idle, fuel overload, power loss and high rpm missfire. I could honestly smell my car from 50 yards away today

And no cat. I took it off and put a agency power exhaust on including midpipe. I know you mentioned the ssv and I have been looking at that issue on here since this happened so maybe this weekend I will try and give that a cleansing as well to see if it helps

Okay so little update.. Got the ssv out and WOW! There was so much burnt on residue on it, I was amazed it came out lol. So I cleaned it off really well and put it back in but when doing so I kinda created another problem for myself. The bottom bolt was over tightened and snapped off. Now my car is idling all over the place and throwing all types of codes. I guess my questions are what are the best ways to get this bolt out and is it causing the CEL problems? Car is back to normal running power but when it gets to idle the thing is no bueno!

Sorry your best bet is to use an extractor tool to remove the both and purchase a bolt of the same strength/quality and torque to specification. The seal of the SSV is critical.

Just wanted to stop in with an update and let everyone know the solution to my problem at least. I ended up getting lucky with the bolt and when I removed the ssv there was just enough to grab it with a pair of pliers. Wannawankel was right, the seal of the ssv is critical because I put everything back together and BOOM my baby is no longer a zombie! Power is back, idle is restored and im back to living at 9k! Thank you to everyone that had stopped by during my issue, I really appreciate the help. Have a great holiday and hope to see you on the road! Again, problem was a stuck ssv
