The dongle allows to reset the codes. I also believe Mazdaedit masks the CEL light, but the code stays present, which it's an issue with certain states that verifies the codes during the yearly inspections.

Failed Front O2 in rear bung
Add me to the list trying this out. I’ve been clearing the codes ever since installing a cat-less mid pipe. I went to the local Mazda dealership and got a failed front O2 sensor free. Installed it last night and cleared the code. Nothing this morning and typically I get one within 15 minutes. Will update as time goes on.

Replaced P0420 with P0054
Well that was short!
I just read a new code due to trying this out with a failed front O2 in the rear bung. The P0420 is gone to be replaced 2 days later with a P0054. Might be easier to just keep clearing codes except I’ll probably wear out the OBD2 port.

Again, like Inabox suggested above, why not just get mazdaedit or versatune and delete the code? You're probably wasting more money/time by trying to **** with a jerry rigged solution. Not to mention being able to mess with the tune after to change fan temps, oil injection, rpm limiters, idle, fuel, ignition, dwell.
