Does anyone have a list of things to change in the RX-8 at a certain mileage?
Please, I saw the list somewhere in the forums and forgot to bookmark/sticky it! Please do link me to it, it contains more info than just coolant and oil changes.

Some of us have a fatalistic approach, what with the history of failing engines on our 8s.
It's not if, but when.
All you can do is take care of it, enjoy it, and put it out of your mind.
The enjoyment of the car outweighs any worry of longevity.
Frequent oil changes, keeping the oil topped off, staying on top of the ignition health, not letting the fuel get below 1/4 tank, and giving it a good thrashing once in a while are most important, imo.
Keep tabs here, read up as often as you can, and you will be fine.

And I know it COULD happen, but I'll be taking care of it, I assure you.
And as for ignition, spark plugs, coils and wires will be my first change! That and the starter at some point.
How often should you change oil? After two tank refills like everyone says? o:

RX8 Club’s recommended maintenance schedule, more comprehensive and proactive than Mazda’s schedule.
30,000 miles:
- Replace Ignition coils
- Replace Plug wires
- Replace Spark plugs
- Clean MAF (mass air flow sensor)
- Clean ESS (e-shaft sensor)
- Reset ESS profile
- Clean power steering connections
- Clean battery terminals and clamps
- Replace transmission fluid
- Replace coolant (Mazda FL-22 is highly recommended)
- Replace air filter
- Replace brake fluid (fluid in the brake lines AND the clutch line)
~$300 USD in parts if you shop smartly.
every 60,000:
...all 30,000, plus...
- Clean all chassis electrical grounding points
- Replace accessory belts
- Clean OMP lines
- Replace rear differential fluid
- Replace thermostat
- Clean / Straighten AC condenser fins
- Clean / Straighten oil cooler fins
- Inspect catalytic converter
- Clean / Inspect intake valving
- Consider / inspect all points in 90,000+ as well, many items fail early
~$130 USD in parts if you shop smartly.
90,000:
...all 30,000, plus any 60,000 not yet done, plus...

- Inspect clutch pedal assembly for flex / weld breaks

my old 8 was probably around 70k w/o any problems regarding the pump. 60 psi all day long. the only reason i replaced it was after a dyno day with n02 it was leaning out a bit on the top end

I did a lot of highway speed driving for long extended hours, and this maximum load on the Series 1 pump causes them to heat up and wear out faster. Some have experienced failure anywhere from 40k to 80k. But they will all eventually fail if repeatedly subjected to high-load, high-heat use. I know, I know, some folks have over 100k on them, but that is the exception. And many of those owners don't drive at highway speeds for long extended periods with resulting low fuel levels which also exposes the pump to lack of cooling from the fuel.
The point being, yes we should include the fuel pump change in our RX8 club's recommended maintenance schedule.
I ultimately switched to a Series 2 pump and assembly, with the connector and intake line mods.

High load highway cruising?
Ok.
I have only replaced fuel pumps on high mileage RX-8's (probably a dozen at least), only one of them was on a RX-8 with under 100,000 miles and that was only at the request of the owner because the guy tracks heavily and wanted the Walbro and a new assembly. The fuel pump issue is just another thing that is blown out of proportion on this site.

9krpmrx8 you have always been one to deny the Series 1 fuel pump failure problem, just because it hasn't happened to you in your experience. There are extensive threads on this forum and extensive experience from loads of RX8 owners, including some of our moderators and vendor/members in the US and around the world that show it is a real problem. You have even been corrected in your denial posts on these threads, but you still cling to your denial of the facts, just because it hasn't happened to you.
You do a disservice to other new owners when you deny the truth about those Series 1 fuel pumps. I guess you also don't believe in global warming, and don't believe Obama was born in the US. LOL

I just wish you the luck that you never have the Series 1 fuel pump issue. Mazda saw the problem and switched to a different pump design and manufacturer for the Series 2 fuel pump. And for all those RX8 owners worldwide, that have had this problem, including Charles of BHR, they know it is real and have found various solutions to fit their driving needs. Some have had success with DW and other pumps, some have had success with installing a Series 2 pump. lol
And if you get your kicks dissing on me, no problem. I can take it and let it roll off my back. I am not going away folks, so enjoy !
