Driver door lock weak

I'm having a problem with my driver door lock on my 04 Rx8. When the door is open and I press the lock button, it locks, but when I press the button to unlock, it tries to open but doesn't all the way, just a little bit.

I'm thinking I need a new door actuator bc even with the key fob, it doesn't work. I tried to reprogram the key fob with the car and it's not working. I think that is also bc of the door not opening and closing all the way. Then one day while I got our of school, I used my key to open the doors and the alarm went crazy. When I opened the door, only the driver door opened and the alarm went off. It went like that the whole day. I had to pull the horn relay out and drive home bc it was so loud. I felt so embarrassed. I parked it for a day and tried it again and the alarm stopped going off....could that be the door actuator? Or I think someone messed with my car trying to get in and the door won't open
What do you guys think? Do anyone else have this problem?

Mine got progressively weaker until it eventually did what you're describing (except for the alarm). I had to replace the actuator. Not hugely difficult but mildly annoying.

The necessary part number is FE01-59-310E and it cost me $90 through Mazdaspeed Motorsports development.

Here are some useful instructions for getting to the part:

This one is also good:

Thank you. It's just an electric motor right? And do I have to get it from a dealer bc I went to autozone and they said it's a dealer part
And it's not hard to do? Just the panel and unbolt the old one and put the new one in?
Will that fix my lock switch and my key fob can be programed?

Yah, progressive series of updates to my previous post. Reload and read again.

It's actually the whole door latch assembly.

I don't know about fob programming but it did fix my problem with the driver door not unlocking (and having to use the key).

No, it's not hard, it's just a lot of parts to remove. It probably took me 3 hours to complete because it was my first time and I was being overly careful. An experienced person would probably need less than 1 hour. The most annoying part is getting the window aligned with the regulator and the door assembly after finishing. I'm not terribly bright and forgot to connect the cables to the handle/lock mechanism and had to do it twice.
