Dsc lights not coming on.

Hi Guys. Just got myself an 2006 Rx8. The engine has been replaced and now has the High power 6 speed in it. I noticed the DSC button and attempted to turn the traction control off. I've watched many videos and read on this site many things about the lights not turning off.
Can anyone help me? How can I get the lights to appear on the dash? Pressing the button once doesn't work. Holding it in for 7 to 10 secs doesn't work as well. When the ignition is turned on (pre start) the dash lights don't appear.
I also have after market wheels.

What trim of RX8 is it?
Are all fuses in good shape?

How can I find out the trim? I'm in Thailand so there wasn't much paperwork in English. It doesn't have original rims. Does that matter?

You might need to pull the gauge cluster out (not a huge job) the previous owner MIGHT have removed those bulbs.

Sure, easy things first. The wheels make no difference. Team's question above is important though!

well if the ABS module was swapped out to a non-DSC base model version there won’t be any DSC function, but that was just one possibility that might not be obvious

If you have no experience with ABS systems, this will be tough. Beside the mechanical work, the modules need to be coded to the ECU, so you'll need a Mazda dealer for that.
Although, I suppose, if it was already replaced, it may not be properly coded in the first place.

If it's a base model auto it may have never had DSC anyway

the base model didn’t come with a DSC button though. I suppose it could have been added, but that seems less likely than the ABS module being swapped.

It might be worthwhile to try and determine if the ABS system works by laying into the brakes hard. Just to verify if that part is working properly or not.
