E-shaft hub removal with an auto
Hello,
I'll be changing the front main oil seal on my 07 auto rx8, and usually there's have a clutch to prevent the front stack bearings from becoming metal pancakes, but there's some weird metal donut in my transmission instead.
I'm trying to triple confirm the direction the E-shaft needs to be pushed to keep everything in place, as different threads and videos mix up backwards and forwards, and as I don't have a clutch to rely upon.
From what I'm reading the e-shaft and flywheel need to be pushed towards the front of the car, having something pushing the fly wheel & e-shaft from the rear, into the engine.
I'm thinking a ratchet strap through one of the flywheel holes (the auto one has holes) and through the front subframe as an anchor. Pulling the E-shaft assembly towards the front of the car.
Interestingly the Mazda TSB really doesn't mention anything about keeping tension in any side, unless their tool starter hole flywheel jammer tool somehow incorporates that
Sorry for such a trivial question, I would just really prefer to keep my Torrington bearings, and myself out of the front stack overhaul.
Thanks
Roman
