Looks like a super nice 8!Did you buy the car from a private owner or from a dealer? Do you have any service records on the car? Can't wait to see more pics of this Sparkling Black Metallic beauty!

Bought it from a Ford dealer in PA. Someone had traded it for a truck. No records or compression check from the dealer. The VIN history didn't have much info. Rolled over 34k miles driving it home. Will have my local dealer pull the history when I take it for its next service.

Best to have a rotary-specific compression test. If properly cared for and properly driven, it most likely is going to read good compression with just 34k miles. But to be sure, get that compression test.

RX8 Club’s recommended maintenance schedule, more comprehensive and proactive than Mazda’s schedule.
30,000 miles:
- Replace Ignition coils
- Replace Plug wires
- Replace Spark plugs
- Clean MAF (mass air flow sensor)
- Clean ESS (e-shaft sensor)
- Reset ESS profile
- Clean power steering connections
- Clean battery terminals and clamps
- Replace transmission fluid
- Replace coolant (Mazda FL-22 is highly recommended)
- Replace air filter
- Replace brake fluid (fluid in the brake lines AND the clutch line)
~$300 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

every 60,000:
...all 30,000, plus...
- Clean all chassis electrical grounding points
- Replace accessory belts
- Clean OMP lines
- Replace rear differential fluid
- Replace thermostat
- Clean / Straighten AC condenser fins
- Clean / Straighten oil cooler fins
- Inspect catalytic converter
- Clean / Inspect intake valving
- Consider / inspect all points in 90,000+ as well, many items fail early
~$130 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

90,000:
...all 30,000, plus any 60,000 not yet done, plus...
- Replace coolant bottle
- Replace radiator hoses
- Replace radiator
- Replace front O2 sensor
- Replace motor mounts
- Inspect clutch pedal assembly for flex / weld breaks
~$900 USD in parts if you shop smartly.

I was also going to mention... When you take it to the dealer have them print you off a copy of the warranty history for the car. Its a sheet that will tell you what's been replaced under warranty and any recalls that are open or that have been performed. The sheet will look like this, the printout for my 05 GT:
