Electric locks not working on both doors
Hello I just bought a Rx8 and the locks weren't working when you press the lock and unlock buttons and the key fob was not working either however I AM able to lock and unlock manually.
I then saw the fuse was blown. I replaced the fuse and then thethe key fob started to work and the buttons started to work as well. However the locks are still not locking and unlocking . I hear the clicking under the glove box and the locks try to move but looks like it doesn't have enough power to actually get the locks to lock and unlock. Any suggestions? Or do you think it's possible that both of the lock actuators are bad?
Thanks for the help

The lock motors do go bad sometimes. I had it happen one one side. They don't have enough force to fully cycle the lock. Possible it's that but to have it on both sides at the same time is a bit odd. Also having a blown fuse is a bit odd.
I guess you need to replace the motors (the whole door mechanism module is about $120/side, it's probably worth it to replace the whole thing because taking it apart seems annoying) .
But once you have the door apart other solutions may become apparent.

Another vote for the lock actuators. I had to replace the one on the driver side of my car. IIRC, the part was about $100 and it took me a couple of hours to pull the interior door panel do the swap. Most of the time was doing it again because I forgot to plug a connector back in.
