GA Engine Coolant Leaking into Combustion Chamber

I have a 2004 rx8 that is stalling due to coolant leaking into combustion chamber. I am trying to locate the closet quality mechanic to zip code 30110. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mark Gilroy

When this happens there is no easy way to fix it. It requires a full engine rebuild or engine swap. There is a stopgap you could try which is use Holt's RadWeld but it may or may not work. If you are planning an engine swap, this can work in the meantime until a new engine can be sourced. I'd say its only a 50% chance it will work but its worth a shot. Good luck on your hunt but you will need a mechanic that specializes in rotary engines to do the swap. They are difficult to find that's for sure.

How did you know you have coolant leaking into the conbustion chamber? Smoke at start ups? Coolant level drops? Usually you will have trouble start in the morning and the engine will run rough (with misfire). I hardly heard that coolant leaking into the chamber causing the car to shutdown because the combustion pressure is greater than the coolant system pressure.
If it indeed is leaking into the chamber, you have lost a coolant seal and that requires engine rebuild.

Have all of the symptoms mentioned. I am trying to find somewhere in or around Atlanta that can fix it. Do not want a dealer to do it.

The fix is a remanufactured engine, which is often easiest to get through the dealer. Even if they're not installing it.

Sorry I can't help with Atlanta local shops.

I would strongly recommend trying a additive to get some more mileage out of it, like "HOLTS radweld plus,or Seal It"

Contact Mazmart. They're down in that area. They'll know.

My suggestion as well. As long as you are doing an engine swap it’s safe. If you are planning rebuild it will make it harder.
