Unhappy Engine dies at idle part 2

So I went to start my 8 this morning to go to work and guess what happened again? She died at idle right after starting the engine.

This time was different however. I had no CEL flashing to indicate a misfire and she kept trying to come back. For example, the engine would crank then start and idled at about 3k RPM and I dropped the clutch as I normally do right after ignition/start. Less than a second after letting off the clutch she died and the engine stopped for about 2 seconds then came back by itself and went right to 3k RPM for about 2 more seconds then died again. (this repeated an additional time)

I attempted to start her up again and the same thing happened, however this time I clutched down and she came back 3 times by herself so I tried to put it in gear and move forward and she kept going then died for a second and stayed on and then idled normally by itself. I felt like I was to afraid to turn the car off so I drove to work and now my 8 is sitting outside and I am extremely worried to start her up again.

The back story to all this is that I was having this problem a few weeks back and it turned out to be the mass airflow sensor being dirty and all that was required to fix it was a cleaning of the sensor and the filter. I have had my engine tested for compression and the numbers were fine according to the Mazda dealership, and the only thing I can even think that is wrong is my oil/filter has not been changed in 4500 miles but I top off the oil after every fill up so I know there is good oil still in there.

One thing I can add is that the temperature here in Ohio is starting to drop and I do park the car outside the garage at night. Every morning the engine coolant light comes on for a about 45 seconds then turns off once I have the car in gear and begin to drive. I have kept an eagle’s eye on the engine temperature gauge and it never goes past the half way mark once the car gets warmed up. I have check the fluid levels on the coolant the it is just floating at where I believe is a full level, but I am not sure.

If anyone might have something else that I need to check that would be great help… I’m still trying to learn as much as I can about my car.

For those who missed my first thread here is the notable information about my 8
2006 Shinka on her second engine (only 12,000 miles on the current engine) 72,000 miles on the odometer. Everything is original with the clutch and clutch assembly

Do you have an OBD2 reader of some type? Something to look at the live engine data while the engine is running?

I'd want to guess at a vacuum leak now, but you will need some way of checking.

I have a buddy who has an OBD2 reader... let me barrow his and ill get back to you on that. I am going on lunch break at this time so I am going to attempt to start her up.

I will also reset the e-shaft profile as requested.

When you borrow it (if the e-shaft profile reset doesn't work), look at the short term fuel trims and MAF g/s while at idle. If you are having trouble idling, it's going to be difficult to get these numbers, but they will help identify if it's a vacuum leak.

Post back with the RPM, the MAF g/s, and the short term fuel trim %
