AU Engine Problem

Good morning,

I bought my 2004 RX8 April 2013 (Ariel)

I took her in for her 2nd Service coolant leaking, great picked her up drove off, 15 minutes down the road she came to a Holt complete stop,

On the tow truck back in the workshop phone call, I have an engine problem costing $5600.00, shocked and disappointed,

I'm a proud owner I love my Ariel, I just lost job can't afford the cost, now why has this happened ? I just bought my car April last year owned it for a year this happened,

she's parked in the garage for nearly a month, trying to get 2nd opinion,

I have even thought of returning the car back to dealer,

What would you do?

Hi, I'm a noob myself so I don't have much hope of giving you a proper answer, but surely the workshop told you more than "It has an engine problem that costs $5600 to fix"?

I think you need to be more specific about the problem they say it has, and the proposed solution before anyone can really comment.

Does it require a complete engine rebuild due to compression being so low it no longer operates?

Any luck getting a second opinion? Or at least a lead to an economy rebuilder or a salvage yard that might have a usable engine?

Not clear what you might accomplish going back to the dealer after more than a year, other than that he might help your search for a fix you can afford.

what shape was the engine in when you bought it in April 2013, did you have a compression test done? Being a 2004, how many miles where on the engine when you bought it, and is it the original engine ? We need more info on what the dealer has found wrong with the engine and how did they discover this, an engine tear down, low compression test, coolant in the engine etc. ?

Many 2004s with high mileage and poor maintenance can have dead or dying engines. Tell us what is your real problem and folks here can try to steer you to the proper course.

Mazda dealers usually send rotaries to specialist rotary mechanics for major problems. I suggest you contact Automotive Plus if you are in Brisbane for a second opinion.

Or try other rotary specialists close to you.

Hi guys, thanks so much for the care ring messages,

this is my first sports car and just realize there is so much more to do than just getting in and driving,

I will do more research on this engine, I supposed I'm not much knowledge when it comes to engines and parts,
I'm just that kinda girl who loves driving sport cars,
I'm pretty good with Petrol clean polish making sure I'm on time with the service,

I have messaged the Dealer about the engine issue and waiting for there reply,

Thanks again Guy's I will keep in touch,
