70k miles engine tear-down for no compression on rotor 2!
Found missing apex small parts missing on 2 of the 3 apex seals. Rotor housing lucky is in great shape.
All parts looks awesome with a few exceptions:
Metal plates have a couple small pits about hair deep
Both of the rotor housing has small chrome loss around some if the edges about 1 to 3 fingernail
Can the metal pates be sanded down with grid 200 and then lapped when there is a hair deep flaw? I read that only .002 can be removed from the plates!
Can the rotor housing be reused? I read that majority think the rotor housing should be replaced after 50k on Renesis-$750 a pop hard to bear!
im with ya 9k. you have been in a lot more kegs than me (unless were talking about the kind in my beer meiser) but wouldnt you say if seals broke it would most likely wipe out the housing/plates
Yes it is almost guaranteed that some parts were damaged beyond repair. Either way, even if they look fine to casual eye, that doesn't mean they are reusable. A lot of it also based upon opinion, what one builder would reused another builder would say it's complete crap. It also depends on what you wanna pay and what your expectations of the rebuilt engine are.
Only in the rotary world do people think $4,000.00 for a complete quality engine rebuild is a lot of money.
the rotor housing is in question. Based on the .02 from edge flaking alowed, rotor housing front is ok but rotor housing 2 where the little apex ends are missing is .03 from edge and also there are groves one can feel with finger nail.
