Exhaust Cutouts?

Exhaust Cutouts?
Hey! I have had my Rx8 for about 8 months now and so far I have loved it. But I’m hoping to make it a little louder and cutouts seem perfect for me. (With them being toggleable and all) Is this a good idea for the rotary and if it’s fine what kits come in the right sizes and are trust worthy?

i did this, built the cutout to fit in the back. bought a cheeop aftermarket muffler, fabbed the pipes up so that one outlet came through the muffler , the other side the cutout. cars in storage for winter so i cant easily get you pictures. im happy with the results except the cheepo muffler is louder than id like. hit the button and it goes from kinda loud to holy crap

Honestly a simple catless midpipe or basically stright pipe style catback makes them sound pretty good and loud. mine has a cat back with small dual mufflers and tips and has a ton of room under it and sounded great when i got it before it quit running

Not sure if you'll like cutouts on the rx8. The exhaust tone is really raspy and harsh. When I ran full straight piped after buying my first rx8 in the hood it was terrible. The drone at highway cruise was unbearable unless you went above 5krpm(runs rich, drinks fuel).
On the performance side, there is really no reason to put a cutout at the muffler, instead of just buying a nice sounding muffler of your choice. I could see an argument of doing a pre-cat cutout to retain the cat for emmissions.....but I would say its pointless and would likely have issues with the heat. At that point just do a midpipe and mazdaedit the emissions code.

Personally I'd go with a full racingbeat header back.....easiest full system that will sound good with no/minimal drone. Only thing that bothers me with the RB kit is that it is a 3in exhaust that tapers down to the stock 2.5in flanges.
