Fender strakes and vents

I have a blue '06 (not sure if it's midnight blue, or stormy blue mica) and think the fender strakes add something to the car. But I also see on www.rotaryfx.com that they have different wheel vents as well. The black wheel vents kinda disappear on the dark blue car and aren't much of a feature... maybe that would look good?

Has anyone here added strakes or changed their vents? Are you happy with how it looks? If I did add strakes to my car do you think it would look better in body colour or metallic? (I like the alumium look, chrome is a bit 'bling' for me)

Yes, I realise I google search images, I just wanted peoples opinions.

I added aluminum fender strakes to my 2008 40th Anniversary edition and they do add to the overall fine look of the car (my body color is metropolitan grey mica) . Many manufacturers offer them in aluminum, stainless steel, and in silver and many other colors. Unfortunately even the best quality ones will eventually start to tarnish from road salt etc. I use polish on mine to slow down the tarnish, but will just replace them when they start to look bad. I have seen members' RX8s with the body color strakes and of course the metallic colors like mine. Surprisingly even though I opted for the aluminum ones, the body colored ones also look good.

The problem with body coloured strakes is that I don't even know what my body colour is! lol

I see rotaryfx sells them in sunlight silver- maybe that would look similar colour to the stock rims and be a nice contrast to the blue?

I like the aluminum ones that match the color of the stock wheels, but, whatever color you decide one, if you're going to get strakes, for God's sake, please make sure they are installed straight and parallel!

Have a look at the paint code (usually on the driver's door frame) on the large label that also has tire pressures. If the color code is "32C", then your car's color is called Phantom Blue Mica. That code will also be needed to get paint mixed should you decide to paint the strakes.

There doesn't appear to be any paint code there. My car is a UK import, so maybe that has something to do with it?

I think my car is a stratos blue, but if I google search 'stormy blue RX-8' I see cars that look like mine too. Or are these the same colour with different names in different countries?

Is there a decal on either front door frame showing the tire pressures and build date? The paint code is generally there near the bottom right of the decal.

Here is where I got the color cross from:

There's this (attached)

After asking a question in another thread, I'm almost certain it's stormy blue mica. I have seen other names used (midnight blue, stratos blue) but I think they are incorrectly used for this colour.

I still like the look of the strakes and want to add them. I have a couple of available options - I like the OEM strakes the most as they seem match the alloys, but I'm not paying over $200 for them. RotaryFX had a satin aluminium finish version too which looked similar, but its out of stock

(1) Body colour (assuming I have a stormy blue and the actually match!)
(2) Chrome
(3) Stainless steel
(4) Polished aluminium

Hmm... I'm tending towards stainless steel as hopefully it wont tarnish like the aluminium, but isnt as 'blingy' as chrome. The body colour strakes may not even stand out. I just wish I could get the more matt silver finished version.

Took me a while, but found 2 pictures that might help you locate the color code

Call Mazda, tell them your VIN# and they can tell you.
