Finally making my first post...**EDIT: with pics!**

Hi All,

Not new here and I've owned my '05 WWP GT 8 for over six years now. Just finally making my first post here, an introduction of sorts.

I've had the pleasure of owning many cars over the years -- went through my Acura Legend coupe phase, had a GSR, Prelude, several MKIII Supra's, and was into FC's for the longest time (can't remember how many I've owned now) -- anyone who knows me knows that I've gone through cars like I've gone through jeans ever since I got my license at sixteen. Six years is the longest I've ever stayed with a car and I owe it all to the car that the rx8 is. I still love it.

Looking to finally do some minor upgrading of the suspension, just got a partial MS kit in and need to find a good place to have installed and my entire car repainted. If anyone knows of a good place here in the SF Bay Area, PLEASE let me know! (Got a quote today for about ~$6k, is that reasonable?)

Thanks and look forward to contributing more here (I'll do my best, I don't have a lot of knowledge nor worthwhile opinions to share, really)!

Im not from SF but that seems like a lot for a paint job. Are you changing colors by chance? I have been quoted $3000 in PA for a respray. But this was not a color change, and would not be considered show quality, just a good normal paint job from a reputable shop.

Thought it seemed like a lot, but I know the cost of paint has only got up over the years. Not changing colors, just a respray, though the quote included installation of the body kit as well. $3k is definitely something I could do. Hopefully there's a place around here with similar pricing. Thank you for the response.

That's too much. Find another quote if you can...

Thanks a lot, definitely plan on doing so.

If anyone from the SF Bay Area can lend a hand, so far I've gotten a few names of some places from friends/co-workers/the net:

Shanklin's
Crockett's Auto Body
Carlos Arroyo and Sons
RJ's Paint Shop
The Works Auto Body
Too Good Auto Body

I plan on giving them all a call for a quote, but if anyone has had any experience with these places, or have recommendations, please let me know. Thanks!

Also, if anyone is interested, I got an extra used pair of authentic MS sides in my deal. Hoping more for a local trade (need an MS spoiler, suspension stuff).

Every time I have had paint work done I always kick myself for not taking before and after pics. Make sure you do so and post here

A good paint job is not cheap but 6k seems a bit steep for just a simple re-spray. Now if they are fixing a bunch of dents, painting fitting and prepping a new body kit and laying down a nice thick clear i dont think 6k is unreasonable.

Pics of my car yesterday just outside of RJ's Paint Shop in Pleasanton when I went to go pick it up. Not 100% perfect, but RJ's a really cool guy and he gave me a great deal. Overall, I'm very pleased.

Very nice. I like the rear flares and am happy you decided to stick with the painted bottom section.

When I first saw/read what you did with them, I thought GENIUS. Can't thank you enough for selling them to me, again!

RJ really did a lot for me, including a bunch of small and not so small things in addition to the kit. Anyhow, I'm not sure if he'd want to me to advertise the price he gave me, since I feel he gave me a deal (a cash one, I might add). I'll ask and if he's cool, I'll post it. Let's just say, it's a fraction of the quotes I was getting elsewhere, which was in the $6-$9000 range.
