Hey, I was trying to post in maintenance but apparently I have to make a new member post first, so here it is.
Bought my first Rx8 about a year ago. Had about 100k miles but was only $3000 so I'm not really complaining. 2006 model, has a "Sport shifter" but I just leave it in automatic.
It's been great except for an issue I'll post about in maintenance as soon as it's possible to do so.

Welcome to the club! The rear is way too low on this example. Probably need new struts all around. Once you get it fixed up that will be a nice ride. Be sure to read through the new owner sticky at the top of the forum.

Ok, here it is:
My Rx8 is giving me problems and I have no idea why. What happens is it will drive great for a while, but out of nowhere it will slowly start losing power and gradually become sluggish. Eventually it worsens to the point it stalls if you stop or slow down enough, though if you hold the accelerator down to the floor it usually stops it from stalling and after a few seconds it regains a little power.
If it stalls, it MIGHT recrank after a few seconds, but usually it takes anywhere from several minutes to a couple of hours. I'm not sure if it's flooding or needs new plugs and wires or what. Strangely, any time I get gas it always takes several seconds to crank, but runs fine afterwards.

Sounds like low compression symptoms. The first thing you want to do is a compression test to rule out that as a cause. This way if it turns out the engine is at the end of its life you arent wasting money throwing parts at it hoping it fixes it.
