Flashing CEL (misfiring)

Hey guys I'm new to the club and was looking for some urgent help. So today as I drove my rx8 and I punched the throttle it did not rev beyond 6k rpm which was followed by the check engine light flashing. Does this mean I need tranny fluid asap? Also when it changed gears before redline it would make a strange sound. I have put only 10k since getting the car, it has a total of 91k miles. Hoping I really just need to replace the tranny fluid.

Get your engine codes read and report back. It's not going to be you tranny fluid.

Yeah you misfired....probably need an rx8 tune up and maybe some carbon cleaning of your internals.

plugs
wires
coils
seafoam

I redlined my rx8 once a day to keep it clean inside. I'd recommend the same. Do NOT baby that engine with low RPMs.

I would agree with this 100%... every time I get on the highway to go home from work I always redline mine at least once. its good for the engine, and hella fun to hear that noise at 9000 RPM =)

A flashing CEL is always a misfire: https://www.rx8club.com/tech-garage-...t-here-222280/

...and thread title edited. Please be specific with titles when you create threads. The year/make/model doesn't tell us what you are asking about in the thread.

If it won't rev past 6k, like he said in the first post, it has more problems than just a misfire.

Agreed, though the thread addresses those too.
