Fresh RX-8 project owner.
Hey everyone. Sometime lurker of the forum here.
Got my self a 05 RX-8 3 weeks ago which had low compression issues (dying warm on stop lights apparently) etc. Teared the engine down the first days and now it's waiting on the table for cleaning and new seals.
Have to admit, before getting in to rotaries, I knew getting parts around my area was hard, but I thought getting them online overseas would be fine, Oh boy I was wrong.
Atkins rotary, pls fix your attitude and customer support.
Thanks everyone for the good old posts and info diagrams. helped a ton during the teardown.

Nice project. Are you sure the big parts you have are in spec and reusable? That's kind of a thing. Housings flake, get chattermarked or scratched. Unlike a cylinder you can't hone that stuff out, you need new housings.
Also make sure when you put your engine back in, that the thing that killed it isn't still on the car. It's best to diagnose why it died while the dying engine is still in the car. Cat , ignition, oil injection failure, etc. You can get up to speed at rx8help.com if you haven't already.

Bearings ill check again once I get to the garage but stuff seems fine. Side seals had HUGE clearance compared to what online says is a good spec? Around 2mm of play.
Apex still propably had some meat on them. Checked their size and they around 5mm from the measuring point for the "spec" but ill get oem seals anyways as its open now.
The car started with its own starter and battery tho but took ages to cold start and when it finally tried to run it wanted to just shut down.
Ex owner force started it after 2 years of sitting and tried to drive it home 1 kilometer. The back muffle caught fire and melted the trunk plastics. Propably coils done for.
Ill see how this thing goes forward.
Still waiting to get parts from atkins after they refunded my order so i could "wire" them instead...
