Unhappy Friends I need help !

Hello rx8 club !

I have a quiestion.
Can I incorporate a 2004 rx8 engine to a 2011 rx8 transmission ??

I have this two cars but
the rx8 2004 have a failure in the transmision
and the rx8 2011 have a failure un the engine
So I need to know if i can make one car with the two.
anyone know if this works ???

It works..it is a common swap to series 1 cars as the Series 2 transmissions seem to be stronger

A few points:

The transmissions being compatible is true if they are both Manual. If one is an Automatic and one is a Manual, then they aren't. And if both are Automatics, they might not be compatible, but I am not sure.

Assuming that they are both Manuals, keep in mind that you will need to install the pair in the 2004 chassis. It will be a significant and costly amount of work to install it in the 2011, including additional hardware and electronics transfered from the 2004 into the 2011 to replace the incompatible stuff. The transmission could go with either, but the engine needs to stay with the car it was first installed in to make this easy.

The only transmission consideration you will have to deal with is that the wiring harness for each is 'backwards', so you have to figure the few plugs, just the neutral and reverse switch connectors i believe. Everything else bolts right up.

The engines are not easily swapped...you should put the tranny from the 11 into the 04
