Is it good/harmful to store an 8 outside?
I am interested to hear what people have to say about this one, but as the title implies I am interested in knowing if storing an 8 outside is any good/bad for it than any other car. The reason why I am asking is that I have noticed when starting my 8 after storing it outside overnight the car will idle after start at about 3k RPM and slowly drop to just a hair under 1k RPM after about 120 seconds when warmed up. However, when I start the car after being stored in the garage overnight it starts with around 2k RPM and quickly (within 20 seconds) idles back down to under 1k RPM. In addition the start up duration of the ignition seems to be quicker when stored in the garage vs. the driveway.
I attempted to search the new owners thread and could only find this one section about "cold" weather because the weather here in Ohio is starting to change and i was only able to find one bit about weak ignition in the cold.
"Cold itself is nothing to worry about unless your ignition system is weak. Stay on top of your ignition system (learn to subconsciously pay attention to the stability of the revs and how smooth, or not, the power band is, etc... Start feeling that hesitation and roughness, and it doesn't go away with WOT runs to redline, your ignition system is starting the downhill. Doesn't mean it will go right away, but the longer you wait, the greater and greater your flood risk, power loss, and mileage drop."
I do not think my ignition is bad... I do not seem to have any of the symptoms listed on the help forum...
I am interested to here from everyone... Where do you store your 8? outside? inside? at what RPM does your 8 start up to? at what RPM does yours idle? any signs I should look for in the winter during start up for problems?

There is nothing different about the 8 vs any other car with storing it outside. They all have the same challenges to address with paint, vandalism, battery levels, cold and hot weather, sun bleaching, etc...
The 8's RPMs normally will sit higher the colder the temps are, and slowly drop as it warms up. Entirely normal. Get it REALLY cold, and it will sit at like 4k for a few minutes.
Edit: I'm in the process of re-writing the new owner's thread, and the cold weather section will get re-written quite thoroughly, and cover far more points than it does now.

Like any other car, I prefer to store it in garage mainly because of paint issue.
Paint gets fade/rush/bird drops/water stain and all that....
Not mentioning sometimes animal will find its way into the engine bay.
Heard several stories of blood bath engine bay......u know when pullies meet the animals...

I don't see how storing an RX8 outside vs. another car is any different.
Storing any car outside and uncovered is not really great for paint. If you live near the ocean, you will get surface rust too. I lived near the ocean for a couple of years when I had an EVO and I had some surface rust on my radiator support. (That pained my heart)
