I'm no engine god, but I bought an 04 rx8 last summer. Same thing. Somedays she's just picky. I noticed nobody said anything so maybe I'll suggest it, do you know what type of oil you're using? Could be too heavy for your car to turn while it's cold and that's why when it's hot and it's alot easier for it to flow your car will start. Again, I'm not claiming this is even remotely the problem just a friendly suggestion. Plus it never hurts to put clean oil in.

Oh, and for the mom reconsidering your purchase, mine did the same... but she's just mad it's holding the spot for her corolla in the garage this winter lmao

Before anyone takes this as a fact (as the internet often does by mistake) this is not a thing that happens under any circumstances. Thicker oil doesn't change anything in that regard.

Oil that is at, or near 0 degrees, will make an engine difficult to start. especially if it has water contamination.

5w20, castrol. The dealership was the last to change it. And I have added more since then as I've ran it all out.

Bishop has given me tons of pointers! I got me a local rx-8er (super stoked!) He's helping me out a bunch, going to do my first pre-mix tomorrow!

But it won't effect rotaries significantly since none of the moving components are in an oil bath. It might cause starvation issues if it's all goopy in the pan, but it won't stop it from starting.

Well that's always good then, can't get much better than that!

Absolutely not! I met him today! He's very kind, I'm learning a ton. Going to get some stuff to clean off my battery, he thinks that may be what's causing my problems. :-)
