So ever since I bought the car in December I have had the strangest issue. The heat does not always blow at the levels it should.

What I mean is, even though the fan is set to 4, spins like it is on 4, and works like it is on 4; over time it might be blowing like its on 1, maybe not at all.

The blower will still sound the same, but nothing is coming out of the vents.
In fact, the other day it was the opposite, it went from hardly blowing to blowing like 3 or 4. (Guess I don't really know what it should feel like because it is all so irregular).

I have confirmed the that heat **** works, I can switch between 1, 2, 3, 4 and I hear the blower change speeds. I have even clean and then replaces the cabin air filter to no avail. The old filter was pretty bad, and the system doesn't appear to have any issues in the housing. There were only a few leaves, so a clog seems unlikely.

I wanted to wait to post this in the correct area, but I still do not have permission even though I have had 11 posts for over a week, if not 2 weeks by now.


Do we have any ideas as to why the air would slow to nothing, and even occasionally come back up??

There doesn't seem to be any correlation to the heat being on or not. Sometimes it is on the entire drive(RARE), often it seems, as I tell people, the car is asthmatic. On one occasion, the heat was never on, but they had no power once turned on.

Luckily, the heat always seems to work for the first few minutes, so I can warm up the car in this Chicago winter. But it is getting pretty old as a smoker and getting to work pretty cold. Thank God I have heated seats!

Just an update. Every since I posted this message, the heat has no longer stopped blowing. I still do not feel as though 4 is as strong as it should be; and I have been staying warm while driving, thank god.

Any input on what the issue might be, please let me know.
