Hello! New 8 owner!!!!!

Picked this car up almost a year ago. Was sitting on a lift rotting away. Decided it was time to change up my drift chassis. Coming from an S13 turbo ka24de, to a Hyundai Genesis 3.8 rs, down to this guy. Looking for a challenge but also looking to build a newer chassis.

Cleaned up. Looking a little better!

The original motor was \"rebuilt" by some mechanic with v8 rebuild experience. Me and my Rotary specialist got the car to run but wouldn't hold idle. It would die and not start anymore. Upon opening the original motor he found ding marks on the rotors. New side seals with a huge clearances. Basically a shot "rebuild" 😆.

Installed the solid pellet

Xtd clutch and flywheel. Don't really like the throw out bearing that came with the kit but this clutch grabs hard and has stock pedal feel. Ran this on my turbo ka24de S13 for years.

Automatic motor pulled from donor car. So far running strong.

Cut the knuckles shorter, maybe a little too short. I'm having clearance issues at full lock. Need better offset rims.

Shooting flames?!!

Getting more comfy with sweepers on a welded diff with stock suspension.

Taking the car home from its abandoned location.

So a little history. I'm from guam. Got into Drifting in 2011. Weapon of choice was an S13 with a turbo charged ka24de. Later down the road and after like 3 chassis and 4 or 5 motors, parted out the car. Shortly after that I piloted a Hyundai Genesis 3.8l for a bit. Tasteful mods to that car including pbm front angle kit, spec clutch, stance coilovers, full exhaust, sfr tuned ecu. Plenty smoke and loud exhaust. Got the local tire shop to sponsor nexen sur4gs for the car and the car was owned by a dealership I worked at.
Had a friend that was taking parts from this car ( the rx8) and tried to help the previous owner to get it to start. He told me about the car and I was down to snag it. I've driven a turbo fc before and loved the power and sound it produced. Picked it up and got it running. So far I've collected most of a greddy turbo kit. Snagged an accessport. Replaced the coils with D585 coils and replaced the wires with custom 8mm ones. I still need some kind of suspension setup. Gotta change the diff bushings cause the ones on the car is shot. But I have high hopes for this chassis. So far loving every single bit of it!! Glad to be a part of the rx8/Rotary community!! Follow the team @looksuper_drift

Sorry to bump an "old" post but as it appears no one had told you what they thought, wanted to tell you I'm loving it! The Genesis used to be a dream car for me before the RX, how has the two compared for you?

Cool thanks!
Genesis was an excellent car. Especially the V6. Never had engine failure. Only downside that I saw was the weight and the aftermarket support (like the rx8 isn't any different, lol). I think the genesis chassis are suuuuuper underrated, but then again it holds its value better than a z. Out here the drift scene is full of s chassis and z chassis (what place isn't!?), my goal is to be different w/ a challenge. Switching over to the rx8 was by no means easy. It works, but to a point. I eventually want to swap in an rew but for now focusing on steering and suspension mods. Thank God I have an "expert" Rotary friend here on this small tiny island!
