So as ive mentioned in a precious thread I had sm issue wid coolant loss.. and today for the first time ever I noticed a few drops of coolant on the driveway under my car.. its an 08 AT rx8.. As im im Sri Lanka and its.. HOT I mean HOTTT... im very concerned abt this coolant situation.. so I had a look under the car n there were a few drops of coolant abt 5 drops dripping from behind the oil pan area around there the transmission starts.. but the think is I didnt use my car for abt 10 days now n its dripped maybe 20 ml of coolant... I noticed it cause when I topped coolant the last day I drove and checked it 4 days ago the level was Lower.. I dont have any milky dipsticks.. matter of fact the oil looks super nice. and no white smoke or overheating... it was tht there was some coolant on the floor n on tht area around the tranny.. and ion have any hot air blowing even when the AC is turned to "HIgh" .. any idea on where it might be dripping from.. and is it serious for me to use the car till I fix it.. its jus my leisure car so maybe max I use it a 100kms a week on one day...

Are you sure it's coolant and not air conditioner condensation drain? Is it green?
My guess is maybe a pinhole in the heater core circuit.

 

No its deffo coolant cause its green.. literary the color of coolant.. and what would be the fix if its a pinhole in the heater core would it be bad to drive while keeping an eye out for temps..??

 

Yeah I wouldn't drive too far in Sri Lankan summer with a compromised coolant system. Small holes tend to turn into big ones with time and pressure..

Before we talk about fixes, let's confirm where it's coming from. Fluids flow down from wherever it's seeping out, so see if you can trace it. Since you're adding coolant already, you could add a fluorescent dye.

You could see if perhaps it's exiting through the water pump weeping hole and making its way aft along the oil pan edge... It's all guess work until you get under and trace it though.

 

Yeah and I was mindful of the coolant leak so I always topped up and checked for temps n made sure the coolant is properly circulating..

Yeah but ig its coming from a loose hose around the heater area cuz it looks like it drips on top of tht tranny area n drips down cuz there are no coolant markings whatsoever on the surroundings and the place it drips down is like a little metal box behind the oil pan before the tranny and there is no coolant present once I wiped it so coolant slowly drips frm somehwere onto tht place..

Ok so I lifted the car and got some pics.. looks like its leaking from the rear bell housing..(PANIK).. I jus got new wheels n tyres I hope this aint another expensive fix.

could smt like K seal fix this or would I need to tear apart the engine..??😭

You can see that there are a few near the rear of the engine. That is probably where the leak is coming from and then dripping down to the bell housing and rear of the engine.

See if a shop near you can do a coolant system pressure test or that rents out the tool to do so. That will help identify where the leak is coming from.
Here in the US, auto parts stores often rent out the tool.
