Help keeping my new engine running.
Hi my name is Josh, And So here we go, I have built lots of 7's but this is my
First 8. Ok I bought a poped 04 rx8, did a full rebuild, all new seals and so on, the car ran great when I first got it so poped may not be the right words lol it would run fine
Cold but not hot. But now with the new engine in it fire rite off then died. I was like ok
Let's try agin so I did and it starts and dies. So I cheeked for codes and it is saying loss
Of link with the immobilzer. But the werd thing is when I get it running if I keep it above 5k it will run but under that it's like you cut the fuel off. I have cheeked and there's no Vak leaks. It will idol for around 5 sec but that's it like you cut the pump off.
To me it's looking like so thin to do with the security system but why would it be doing this ? All worked great before I rebuilt the engine. All help will be great and thanks for reading.

Sounds almost as though you may have damaged a harness when either pulling or installing the block. Either that or the harness containing leads to the immobilizer system is loose or hooked up wrong. If you talk nice to RIWWP, perhaps he can point you to a tech manual for the wiring to and from the immobilizer. From there, it will be a matter of check all the wiring for damage or bad/missing connections.

Thanks it's just driving me crazy. And it has the uo155 and uo167 codes but my security
Light is not on or flashing. Well it is when I take the key out but when it runs it's off. And all my
Gage's work fine to.

sounds like you connected the injectors wrong, classic problem on engine replacement.
the u codes are usually ignoreable, though with an immobilizer issue maybe not. different problem from the fuel issue.

Thanks all for your help. I must have been just tired and over looked that I left
Some sort of resister under the Air pump unplugged. Now it's running great, but now I have
A new prob. My CEL is on and is reading secondary air, I know it is suppo to come on
Every other time the engine is started. But it only has came on when the engine was cold and first
Started. But after it's up to temp it don't work/come on at all. Even when I shut it off.
The pump motor is good and the 60 amp fuse is good to, so what all makes the pump work?
It works sometimes. But not like it should. Is it ECM controlled? How do I fix this? Thanks

Thanks for your help, the car is running great, but what can I do about the air pump code?
I have cheeked the pump and it works and the fuse is good and when it's first started the pump
Comes on/ well it did yesterday, but when I started it today it did not come on. Is there a restart/
Relearn for it?

We'll put a new air pump on it and the CEL when out and has passed NC OBD2 inspection.
So thanks for all for helping!! One more prob you all mite can help with. When I'm driving and make a sharp right turn the steering wheel has a hard/catch in it and it turns on the airbag
Light. And to the right driver it could cause a wreck. I think it's something in the power/electric
Steering rack. It's only when driving aggressive.
