Help! Like car but need incentive to keep her it's all new to me these tricky cars !
Having trouble with no power at all just started happening no lights alarm don't work no power at all ! Any ideas? 2005 rx8 fully loaded with red n black leather interior navigation system moon roof heated seats etc I like this car n just got it already doing a rebuild on engine clutch area knocking like something is ticking against housing the higher the Rev the loader it gets also sign s of rebuild needed are unlike any other engines the symptoms I have is motor stalls n won't start wen to running temperature three major issues it's a fun 6 speed manual car very nice but is it worth going all the way with her ? I truly have a fascination suddenly about rotary n these cars thanks for reading any input about no power issue feel free I'm pulling out motor to go to machine shop n doing s clutch job curious about power issue hope it's not something major

Have you checked the obvious? The battery and fuses are the first to check.

A rebuild isn't something you turn around in your driveway, unless you want to repeat the experience every 10000 miles. So think carefully on whether you want to invest the 4-5k required to get a known good engine.

No power at all sounds similar to my issue where I found corroded batter connection the culprit. Is the batter known to be good? Is there corrosion on the battery connections? If so, clean them and try again. Take a minute to watch this video, some good advice for new owners.

If you are hearing knocking in the bellhousing then it's time to pull the trans. If you are already pulling the engine then that will solve that. I had a knocking sound once in an RX-8 engine and it was a failed rotor bearing. I've seen this more than once over the years. Its something to consider.
