AL Hey, I have a 2004 Mazda RX8.

I have an rx8 that does not like me right now. She thought I had abandoned her during a small stroke with a 4 inch clot in my brain and when I got home was riding with everybody else and nobody can drive my baby like I can. So anyways last month I tried to crank her and she cranked. Still not driving. A week to ten days later she failed to crank. Did the deflooding procedures and nothing. Took the starter off tested it 3 times and it tested good 3 times. Checked fuses and nothing. Battery tested good. Took it to Mazda let all the recalls get done and try to fix ignition. Still not cycling on. Mazda also told me they tried to have it programmed to the car but it wouldn’t accept programming. And was told that the wiring harness was in 2 pieces and it wasn’t supposed to be. So having that problem and my driver window won’t roll up. Was able to get it to crank with a extra piece of wire to the starter over to the battery & start home. Just to die 3 miles later. Took it back to Mazda again and they offered me a new harness and said this might fix it. And now I don’t know what to do I was hoping to supercharge or turbocharge this year with what left of its life but I may have blew the motor trying to get Mazda or even doing a supercharged LS? I can get help freely and certain thing cheap. But anyone who can help it would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for typos and misspeaks.

Easy things first: if it's been sitting for a while, has the gas gone bad? Can you add fresh gas?

When were spark plugs and ignition coils last changed? If more than 25k ago, it's about time for both. Symptoms do sound like that's at least part of the problem.

Did Mazda perform a compressiom test?

Can you elaborate on the wiring harness? How is it in 2 pieces? Unless someone tried to do work on it, it shouldn't have any problems. Possible a critter chewed on it while the car was sitting?

It was running a month ago perfectly fine and I let it idle for thirty minutes before cutting it off. And it was quality gas 93 octane without ethanol. Spark plugs and wires were changed about a month before my stroke, so about 4-5 months ago. I try to run it up to red line at least once per day when I was driving it for work. If I jump it off it will run great until it dies. My coils are the oem coils but still running great. Mazda didn’t do a compression test I was hoping the would but said they couldn’t do it with the wiring issue. They told me my RX8 should have a single piece wiring harness and that mine is currently sitting in two pieces. It was a friends before I bought it and him and his dad are awesome rotary mechanics so I highly doubt he messed it up. I have not seen where any wires have been chewed on.

Omg. So many things wrong w this story. What the hell does the wiring harness being in two pieces mean? And why would Mazda give it back to you if it wasn't fixed. I feel like there's something not in this story you're not telling us that we need to know lol. Have you tested for fuel pressure ?
