High idle at start up

High idle at start up
I have a 2004 rx8 and I love her! First issue just happened. High idle at start up. Please tell me this is not the beginning of the end. After driving for a minute, it stopped and went back to normal. I just restarted her again, and it's fine but I dont believe in single occurrences.

It can do that when the engine is really cold.
I'd say there would be a problem if it was high and unstable, but a stable high RPM that then returned to normal is probably ECU commanded and nothing to worry about.

Do not go round starting your Rx-8 and shutting it off without having it warm up a bit first or you'll end up flooding it.
In case that is what you meant by "restarting her"

Who cares if it floods? It's not a horrifyingly big deal, and it's nigh impossible if your car is working the way its supposed to (ignition, catalyst, etc.)
A flood isn't going to immediately drop your compression to 0 on all rotors and faces, it's just going to wear a little more than normal for a minute and be a minor (or major if you can't handle it) inconvenience.
