How bad is this??

05 with 36k miles. Compression test passed although one rotor barely passing. Most times starts fine. Even when hot it starts well most of the time. Once in a while it takes a couple of extra seconds. However when the car sits 45 minutes to an hour seems to be when the start up is the most sluggish. It sometimes takes a few seconds to start. The other day it took almost 6 seconds. 5-10 minutes of sitting when hot usually is not an issue.

Car runs well with no apparent loss of power.

Could be a short draining the battery as it sits. Is it also hard to start in the mornings?

Edit: any engine codes?

Starts fine cold. Battery is good. New ignition system and upgraded starter within last 5k miles. No engine codes either.

Either fuel delivery issue or clogged cat would be my guess. Does your fuel pump prime when you turn ignition on?

When you turn your key on to ACC you should hear a buzz in the back. This let's you know if your fuel pump is working.

Edit: if the car is starting fine cold and everything is working fine but when it gets hot and doesnt start this can be a problem with low compression. What were your compression results from your last test? When you replaced your ignition system, did you also replace the starter with the upgraded one?

Yes. Starter was upgraded around same time as new ignition.

Normalized for altitude and 250 rpms

rotor 1: 100 psi, 99 psi , 98 psi

rotor 2: 112 psi, 110 psi 110 psi

I can honestly say i have never heard a buzz from the back of the car although the chimes sound off in acc mode so maybe im missing it. How long does buzz last?

Only a couple of seconds but it's likely working if you can cold start ok. Any way you can send fuel trim data? Your numbers are at minimum spec so the car should run fine hot or cold. Is the cat also in good shape?

Not sure how to get fuel trim data. Never had cat inspected. I usually bring car to Kris whom I met on this forum. He does all my work and did compression test. I will get a ho!d of him and have him get me that data and check the cat. Also I will double check the battery. It is over 3 years old. I have a meter to do that. Anything else you can think of that I can have Kris check into?

FYI....the starting issue is intermittent. Some times while hot it starts immediately sometimes it takes a few extra seconds. If it was a compression issue wouldnt the starting problem occur every time?

Compression isn’t the cause. There is something else causing your issue. Any engine codes?

No codes. I'm starting to think it may be the battery. Will be testing it today.
