Clueless on everything.

What I want is a way to disable my RX8in such a manner that my listless son will get his own car @ I can start to get the stink out of it. Aw screw it, the probability of a useful answer between website autocorrect and my idea my means I'm just an idiot. Just wanted to motivate the kid. Getting my car back after +6monrhs after the deal - ah for.

Disconnect the e-shaft sensor, down next to the front main pulley. Will disable fuel and spark. You might want to disconnect the battery too so he doesn't kill that or the starter from cranking it again and again.
Alternatively, get under the car and disconnect the starter cables, though you will need to protect the live end of the power cable to avoid arcing accidentally.

You could also pull the fuel pump relay--car will crank and spark, but be denied fuel.

Bring the keys wit you or keep'em in the safe.

Or just tell him not to drive it and if he does, spank him so hard he'll never touch it again.
Oh, the ole' art of education.

This.

What is wrong with parents these days. I tell my kid not to do something, that's it we're done. No hiding stuff, no sneaking around. I don't understand this generation of parents or kids?

I get the feeling that this is a kid fishing for fixes after his dad disabled his RX-8.

I stayed out of this because this "father" should have more control over his son and shouldn't have to resort to trickery. Just taking back the key to the car should immobilize it.

When I was a kid, my Dad spent months trying to keep me from using his computer as a means of discipline. I always bypassed his passwords, locks, etc...

Now look at me

My son never did. I told him I forgot more about computers than he will ever know. If he did anything, I would know. It is mostly true and he knew it.
If I didn't want him to have internet access, I simply locked him out of the router.

I'll follow up just once (unless the post I just sent saying that too shows up somehow), then it'd be 2x. I am the Dad, the kid is the kid. I'm not going to take the key, nor am I going to cowardly disable the car. I do like the kid and I'm not willing to initiate anything that could lead to a worse outcome than me not having my car. Forgive the post, I was (am) frustrated after 6 months+ and being a failed parent in general. Go ahead, pile on. Have at it.

Ok, i am not even sure I understand your last post. I don't know your situation, you or your kid. I do know that there is something very wrong in this house when you the man of the house has no control over your kid. Obviously there are issues which sadly were aired on this forum indirectly by asking how to disable the car. I think the car is the least of your concerns at this point, I would probably put more emphasis on the relationship you have with your son.

Op, good luck. Check out the landmark forum. I know a lot of people who've found it extremely helpful although I myself have never participated (its not a forum but a program)

Please end this thread. If I was going for family advice, I would have looked elsewhere. Given the proclivity here for conclusions & judgement absent intelligence - be certain I wouldn't look here. Anyway, the technical answer was received, thank you. Them that are better & understand much - good for you.
