How long to turn the ignition and let it crank?
The owners manual says you can let it crank for 10 seconds. I've found that when cold it starts right up no problems but when warm I have to let it crank for maybe 5 seconds before it starts. I hope this doesn't indicate a problem. I have new spark plugs. I hope I don't need a new starter motor or worse as I just bought it 3 weeks ago.

Second read the new owners thread about 10 times then read it again

Third when you make threads with issues give as much details as possible about the car( year miles etc) its hard enough to diagnose a car on the interwebz

It's an 05 with 83000 miles. Mine has an automatic trannie but the dealer has a 6 speed that's getting a refurbished motor with 22000 miles on it. He mentioned that he might swap cars with me if I want the 6 speed. Mine is grey and has a good body and paint job on it. The dealer said the 6 speed is blue and is sharper looking. I'll take a look at it when they finish installing the new motor. He did say that the mechanic doing the engine is very slow as he is just doing this job as side work. His full time job is a mechanic at a Cadillac and Nissan dealer.

The only concern I would have is the fact that the dealership would probably make OP pay quite a bit. I mean, wouldn't OP be technically trading in the AT RX-8 and getting the MT RX-8? I would be surprised if the dealership doesn't try to take advantage of OP.
