I accidentally put E85 in RX8. What can I do now?
I very stupidly put E85 in my 2005 RX8 this morning because, one, I wasn't paying attention, and two, I didn't know what E85 was until I researched it when I got home. Reading on a couple threads here and on other websites, it seems that the consensus for using 85% Ethanol fuel on the RX8 is destructive at best, if not fatal. Once I read this, my heart dropped and I now know I need to do something. Is there anything I can do to get the fuel out of the car? maybe pump it out with a hose? When I drove the 4 or 5 miles from the station back home, the car didn't seem to have problems yet. I mixed the E85 with some normal gas I already had in the tank. Any advice or help you guys can provide will be extremely appreciated. Thank you.

I realize that. I used to use premium but times are a little tight money wise for me right now. I'm actually on the verge of selling my RX8 due to it. I know using normal gas is also not the best for the car; I apologize. Anything I could do as for my current issue?

I always think it's hilarious that people say they can't afford premium gas. It is like 4 dollars a tank difference. If you skip eating out at a restaurant once every two weeks, that will cover the cost of premium gas if you fill up once a week.

Guys lets get back on topic here. If the OP's original issue is resolved then we can move on. There are more than enough threads on this forum discussing the use and economic differences between regular and premium fuel. Lets put his fear of his accidental use of E85 to rest or aid him in finding a solution.

Summing up the link. Owner's manual says No Way Jose to using E85. Serious engine damage can occur. I personally don't take any risks.
Here's a link for getting out bad gas.
Safety First When Draining a Gas Tank
As a side note...I have tested premium fuel in all of my vehicles. The performance difference basically cancels out the cost. I have seen it in all my vehicles. The more "performance" and "luxury" vehicles saw more of a benefit, but I've seen it across the board. My Acura TL got approx. 20 more miles per tank. I haven't had the 8 for long, but I've only used premium in it. It is a performance vehicle and should be driven/maintained as such.

I would drive it home very easily. Fuel trims can account for 25pct so if your gentle it will learn and should be safe.
When home try to siphon it. If that doesnt work then pull the fuel pump and drain about half the tank. Top it off with premium and you should be fine.
Id even use the e85 you remove a gallon or two each fillup.
