Thanks for the insight, didn't want it to see snow been stored winters since new but I have no choice. Was either that or no rx and we can't have that. Can't be any worse than the gmc Sonoma I drove for a couple winters...

So some of you may think I'm crazy but after having my 8 and driving it. I seriously considering selling my FD. I think the 8 is just as fun to drive if not more. My FD is a blast but to much power for wet roads most times and the odd car out because when it's sunny I drive my vert.
I'm going to use the cash to do some reliability mods to my 8 since motor was just rebuilt and I want it to last.
I'm still up in the air on what to do!

I don't think you are crazy and I doubt many here think so either. If I wanted an FD, I would own one.

One Bad...

Welcome to the club... Looks like you got the rapid introduction... Sounds like you got the car you wanted, for a price you wanted, and all is good.

For you reliability mods, check out the Contrats thread below. The lessons I learned my first year are there.

And, manual mode on the shifter will be your friend. The auto stays too low in the RPM range on its own. Just make sure it runs up for a bit a few times a week, and life should be good.

And, again, welcome.

So my 8 was involved in an accident, so while at the dealer I got a vehicle history(free if you ask nicely) and I hope this can help any new potential owner.
Take the #vin to Mazda and get a warranty history so you know what and when it was done.
I found out many things there was a third of a page of stuff that had been done to my car.
I found out it's on it 4th engine, Original died at 13k, second at 16k, third at 59k, thank god Banzai Racing rebuilt it this time. I know it was done right this time apparently Mazda Remans are junk!
So long story short I now know why my car was in such great shape when I bought it, it spent most of its life from 2004-08 at the dealer with warranty issues.
So when you go get your compression test have them run the Vin#.
