TX I can't make heads or tails of this...

Now before owning this car lemme tell ya, I probably couldn't tell a radiator to an air filter. But owning this car and having building computers on the side has really opened up my eyes to handling car issues and stuff like that. But I digress. The problem I am having with my '04 8 is something electrical. Or at least from what I have gathered so far.

Prior Repair History: I just had some ******* in North Houston give me a $4000 ride on dropping a rebuilt engine in my car after my seals went out and supposedly a new O2 sensor. On top of that they basically replaced my EverReady Battery that was fairly new and still under warranty with a Quick Start one that was completely dead. And they ran down my tires. Anyways, After replacing the battery with a new one, and a good oil change to be safe it drove pretty ok. Til I got a Crankshaft Code. Got a friend to replace it, everything was fine. Then it flooded real bad down in Texas and my car flooded. After Cranking all that out of my engine and another oil change I got the same code again. Replaced the crankshaft sensor again, and also found that whoever had put the new battery in my car did a shitty job of putting the terminals on because they had been loose this whole time. Replaced and properly tightened everything on the battery and now this.

Current Issue: Everynow and then when I go to start the car, I turn the key to crank and absolutely nothing happens. No immediate crank. Or click. And if I hold it for a couple of seconds it will THEN crank normally and start. I had the Crankshaft code pop up again but I had cleared it yesterday and it hasnt popped up however I had the same problem last night and this morning on the cold side of a start (6 hour shift at work between drives last night, and sleeping naturally before this morning.) and I had a rough start. Last night I read a misfire but not this morning. But as far as compression stuff it has kept a consistent idle and ran normally warm like I didnt have an issue. I took it to Autozone and they checked out my Battery and my Alternator and both are good. My starter didnt pass the first test because of the whole didnt immediately crank thing but it did the second test because it then cranked normally and it passed. I feel like it might be my ignition switch but I wanna hear someone else kinda talk about it...

Can anyone kinda point me in the right direction?

Welcome,

A few thoughts.

One, is the cable from the battery to the starter. If they changed the engine, the likely touched all of that. Make sure it is tight.

Second, do the lights on the dash come on when it fails to crank? again, this points to the starter.
