I just bought an 09 and have so many questions
Like the title says.. I just bought an 09 Grand Touring(?) it’s a 6 speed 90K miles and taken care of by someone who’s owned rotaries. I can’t make a new thread so I thought this is the best place to post. I’m new to a rotary, I’ve read a lot about the nuances of them and how to take care of them. Mostly. I found a lot of different answers on how to properly start and warm the engine but that still is something I’m unsure of.. any seasoned pros have real advice? Also I found that going to 8k soon after the engine heats up is weird... Like the fuel is being cut or something. After I get it through to 9k on a couple gears it goes away.. is that normal? Also, what oil do you recommend for premixing and in what quantities? I typically put 6.4oz when I fill up, about 13 gallons

Welcome to the madness. As the moderator posted search is your friend. There's subforum specific or site global search options.
As to the questions you asked about warmup and hitting a fuel shutoff that's all covered in the owner's manual. Mazda has a recommended warmup procedure and the Series 2 (09-11) ECU controls a moveable redline shown to you in the tach with lighted segments that go out and subsequently a moveable fuel shutoff point.

Hmm. Yeah if you're not running up to 9k once full warm then that would be an issue.
Besides reading through the threads linked above and searching I'd recommend pulling codes with an OBDII reader even if you don't have a check engine light and pull pending codes too.
Also have a hard look at your ignition system (coils, wires and plugs).
