Well, I found myself another rotary Hope it doesn't bite me in the ***.... I paid $700 for an Automatic non-running 2004 Rx8. Towed it home and got it running "Rough" drove it down the street where it then died. When I got out I noticed an nice trail of fuel and then towed back to my house again. When I popped the back seat up and removed the fuel tank inspection plate there was a nice puddle on top of the gas tank. I tinkered around and Jerry rigged the hell out of it. Took it for another test run and it made it around the block and back home. After that I put some MMO in the rotor housing and let it sit over night.
NOW today I went to fill up the gas tank because the gas light was on and all the gas I just put in ran onto the ground And I had a hell of a time unflooding it too. turns out I may need a new/used fuel pump, electrical connector, new fuel pump retainer and gasket as well a the threaded part LIKE $500 worth of parts it seems.

kinda in the same boat as you with mine, it runs and drives, but there are a lot of things wrong with it. mainly engine related, and being an auto, makes it even more of a headache for me. so, im v8/5 speed swapping it through winter this year. got a long ways to go still.
like the others said, its almost like just cutting ties with it with so much wrong, but if you love the car, fix it no matter the cost. there are not many of them. (btw, i have the only one in town here of 10k people, makes me feel special)

I've got the pump somewhat fixed and I decarbed, then cleaned the spark plugs. Runs better. I bought this just to have some fun and flip to make some cash. Sounds like I'll have to part it out the get my money back. lol

That's why you can pick them up for practically nothing, I think even the '04 manuals running are around $2,000-3,000.

Yeah you can get decent condition running 04' 6 port manuals for that around here. My buddy has a clean 2006 Shinka with a fresh rebuild in it that he can't get rid of for $6000.00.
