Pardon also for my hesitation but experience has taught me that 99% of human beings are just bizarre **** ups.

The 2 links in post #18 are basically conglomeration of all the long and technical explanations you NEED to know about this car and FI on this car. The reason they were linked are because at least 3x a week a new Rotary owner comes on here and has a million questions or ideas on what then can do to make this car "better" and they are usually wrong. So instead of posting the same stuff over and over again, they were put into those threads (as well as a couple others) so they could simply be linked and most (if not all) your questions will be answered before you ask them.

As far as the intake, I think AEM will be the louder of the 2 "upgrades". (I quoted that only because the upgrades really don't make a noticable difference in power, only sound).

So, you should really read those links through, you will be infinately more knowledgable about what your can and can not do, and how to make it better and figure out an upgrade path if you are intent on more power, without destroying your engine.

Well after the install...just the obstacle is a sketchy front right tire...car drives, as per my original post, just so nice. And the sound is to my ears glorious so...

no noticeable loss of anything so I suppose I have to be scared of a broken engine somewhere down the line if this intake is indeed the devil Satan.

No, I didn't say you will lose your engine. I detailed the problems you will face. I don't know about the filter itself to know if there is more risk or not of ingesting engine damaging particles.

If you love it and are willing to deal with it, then by all means. Just don't go announcing that it's gained you power or that it's the best thing ever. You voluntarily paid money to reduce the power on a car that is already challenged in that area, so yes, you will get some flak about it.

You also don't actually know what a healthy RX-8 is supposed to feel like. Might yours be healthy? Possibly it was (not any more), but it's a better chance that no it wasn't. Being new to the car though, you have no real idea what a healthy RX-8 would feel like vs one that is off it's game. That is another new owner point that has been proven time and time again. Maybe you will learn in time.

Edit:
One of the reasons we point it out is to make sure you are aware, but another reason it to make sure that anyone that stumbles on the thread and doesn't know, is also aware.

My immediate impression is very positive of the thing as I mentioned ; so unless I do some change to the car that would void this install, it will likely stay in and I'll see if the potential issues ever develop.

Well welcome to the club anyway. Racingbeat has a nice FAQ on why you should stay OEM or use AEM/RB: REVi Intake System - FAQ I hope you enjoy your Rx-8!
