I need help

My 05 rx8 shinka keeps dieing. The gear **** shakes, alot of gear chatter. And when hot and turned off it takes many times to turn back over. What could cause the shaking?

Like mentioned in the other thread, get a rotary-specific compression test if not done already.

Otherwise, it's all speculation and a game of throwing parts at it.

Excessive shaking could be you've lost an ignition coil or 4. But the trouble starting is 90% of the time dead engine (often caused by dead ignition coils).

Gear shifter clatter could result from worn shifter bushings and could present itself when the engine is running rough. Couple this with worn engine mounts and you're sure to hear some trans noise. Hard starting when warm is a sure sign of low compression with the Renesis engine. Have a rotary specific compression test performed and ensure you have good plugs, wires, and coils, as well as a clean air filter and mass airflow meter before throwing parts at the engine.

As nearly everyone else has suggested, get a rotary-specific compression test. Which, just to be crystal clear, is NOT THE SAME as an ordinary compression test one would get for an ordinary engine. You need to go to a Mazda dealer or to a rotary-savvy mechanic to have this done.

And yes, short of doing this, you'll just be wasting time and money.

It's that simple.
