I want an rx8
So I’m a senior in high school and I’ve saved up for a car and I’ve been a big fan of the rx8 ik all about the rotary engine and I think I can do it all of the maintenance and the redline a day keeps the Carbon away. But there’s one issue for me there’s two and idk which one to get the automatic or the manual. Its an issue for me because the cars I’ve driven before have all been automatic FWD. so I don’t know how to drive a Manual should I buy the manual and learn how to drive a manual in it or just buy the automatic ?

1st welcome
2nd read the new owners thread about 12 times no really read this!
3rd autos are fine as long as they are the 6 port engine 06 or newer. the 4 port engines are known to have more issues then the regular 6 port. however, its a sports car and a stigma around here is that you just don't get the autos cause they are lame, slower, and less fun to drive.
4th you cant think you need to know that you can keep up with maintenance. sadly these cars got cheap due to lies and false info on the interwebz but they are not cheap to keep driving. if you get one keep and extra 4-6 grand for when NOT IF you will need to get the engine replaced
5th NEVER get one with out a rotary specific comp check
6th did I mention read the new owner thread?

Everything Sonic said... Seriously, read the new owners thread several times.
This is not a good first car but that's not something you're going to understand at this point so I'll leave it there.
Get the manual if for no other reason than it will force you to learn to drive stick shift.

I'll echo the posts above, but will add my .02 on the 4 port Auto. Don't. You won't be happy with it unless its driven in Manual mode.
So why even bother? Learn the MT as it would provide a broader upgrade path if you choose that route.

You can learn manual in a day, especially if someone is willing to teach you. I learned on the way home from a shop where I had my previous car converted from auto to manual.
By contrast, you can't make an automatic faster or more fun in any amount of days.

When I learned to drive way back in high school, I wanted to learn to drive a manual. But my family only had automatics, and Drivers Ed cars were always auto, too. 🤨 So... when I bought my first car, a ‘69 Saab 96, I got it with a manual transmission, an ancient “four on the tree” (with the shifter mounted up on the steering column). The first day I had her was spent just trying to get out of our uphill driveway without stalling out. Took hours! But a day later I was tooling around town with no problem, and have never owned an automatic since.
Definitely get the stick and take a day or so to learn. You won’t regret it! Plus, the RX-8 especially is a much better car with a stick shift. Just do it!

Read through the links in my signature, then decide.
Since you don't know how to drive a stick, a good move could be picking up an old manual beater for a grand, learn it and even learn to maintain it, and when you are done, flip it. Beaters this old don't depreciate anymore.
Drove a C7 Corvette a while back with 8AT.
No, paddle shifters are not nearly the same. They feel like children's toys while stick shift is the real business.
Edit: just gonna leave these links here
