ignition issue
I'm having trouble with my rx8 I've been working on mine for some time its a 2004 manual 6 speed all stock with front air removed (I think its called the VLAD). anyway I got this car about 4 months ago and I've fixed it all to the point that I've put 2000 miles on it and it fires right up, or it did.... now I'm having issue with it not firing up. it seems like the injectors are having issue priming. the pump is new, and primes just fine, but now it will not fire up until I turn the key on and off and prime the pump multiple times. I've cleaned the ssv and replaced the solenoid. I've de-carbed the motor and changed the plugs, coils, and wires. it really seems like an injector but I wanted a second opinion before I broke it down again. once it fires up it runs fire and there really isn't an difference in hot or cold start. let me know what yall need info wise. I am a mechanic just not a master. I have not a compression test im not near a Mazda place and its expensive but it runs great the starting just happen last week drove it home and then it did this the next morning. it kinda of sounds like the cat is got bbs in it like clogged. I have some mp4 files of some audio but cant figure out how to upload them

ok here is a video of the initial first crank, the fuel pump priming, and the engine cranking after fiddling with it if I prime the fuel pump multiple times it will crank first try cold or hot

It just shuts off when it runs for a few seconds or you are manually turning it off? When it was running the engine sounds ok to me. Did you ever have a fuel pressure test done after you changed out the pump?

uhhh no honestly I did not get a pressure test done for the pump. im a shade tree mech so I would have to take it to oriellys and use their gauge. I manually turned it off so you could hear the issue persist. once it fires up it does not stall it runs smooth maybe a slight hesitation in the ssv on the initial 5000 rpm take off but that goes away if you let it warm up. I did pull the fuel line im pretty sure the blue and red clip around the intake to see if the fuel was coming in and red had strong pressure but the blue clip was weak. the pump is brand new I mean I got it in april. I read that the tube can get crimped in the pump but I didn't wanna take off that ring if it wasn't the problem. it sounds like it primes fine but if I swap the key from on to off ten times it will fire up instant like in third video
on a side note I do hear the cat is probably clogged by the sounds of her

The clogged cat could also be an issue. These are usually no good on most used examples I've come across. This will cause similar symptoms. Looks like you are on the right track. Look forward to further updates as you progress.

Ok so ive located and solved the issue as far as i can tell. i had a new code finally pop up that my ESS was bad. after replacing that and replacing the spark plugs i was able to crank the car after it was hot again. so all in all ive basicly chaged all the electrical and air flow and the car came back to life

i took the exhaust off but im really not sure what i was looking at i couldnt find any of the guts to the cat so i assume that it has been gutted out already. i pulled and cleaned the o2 sensor while it was off.

yes this rx8 had the VFAD removed prior to purchase it was capped and the water line going in to the throttle body was bypassed to add more cold air in the intake i assume.

there is no codes currently i have a slight misfire in cylinder 2. that can be eplained with some old coils and bad gapped plug on my trail. after changing the gap on it the misfire now is to weak to register a code and it only pings a misifre in the high rpms after ive really got on it i have a code reader but its not an expensive one so it doesnt give major details just the basics
