Introduction (and some issues but that's an RX-8 so)
Hi guys!
Been looking at this forum a lot recently as I've bought my first RX-8 and well, I've been having a lot of issues.
I'm Déven (Daven with an "é" because I'm from the land of the baguette and why not), 25, car mechanic.
Always been into JDM and I'm also owning a 98 EK3 Civic with some mods on (and 300k kms) and one day I went to see my cousin's neighbor and dude's a big fan of 8s so he got me into them too.
He buys a lot of them so he can rebuild the engines and sell them back for a profitable price. Being broke I bought one that wasn't rebuilt yet and decided to give it a go.
Rebuilt the engine, replaced all the sensors I could possibly think of, put some RRP coils, MSD wires, fresh new plugs and all but had an issue with idling at OT which I found was caused by bad injectors (one of the previous owners used to put E85 in it and they injectors just gave up) so I replaced them.
It had an EPS issue though (that's pretty common on those car according to what I read)
I took it to inspection like a few days ago and they're messing up with me because of the emissions (oh no. anyway!) and the EPS issue (along with a dead lower wishbone ball joint)
SO I had to register there because no matter what I've tried so far I couldn't find the issue on the PS.
I've been through the majority of this forum's topics related to power steering and nothing worked.
I even tried the torque sensor connector bypass (no change though)
Here's where I'm at right now:
This is really frustrating and I don't know if it's just a minor repair thing or if I need to replace the rack.
Thanks for reading guys, I'd appreciate any future help.
Cheers,
D.

Here's where I'm at right now:
- Intermediate harness is good. Checked every wire and impedance is as low as it should be.
- Cleaned/tightened the connectors, cleaned the ground wires and the rack connector.
- B+ coming to the motor on both power wires (red and B/Y)
- Low motor electrical impedance (so no short I guess)
- Checked values through OBD. Intensity looks good even though there's a slight difference
- (from - 48-ish Amp turning left (smooth side) to + 40-ish Amp when turning right (not-so-smooth side))
- Torque sensor going around 5 daN when trying to turn. Voltage at 5.
- Nothing bent or in the way.
- Small play in lower u-joint but nothing to be concerned about
- "snapping" noises around the left side/center when turning all the way to the right (first noise occurring at like 75% turn and another one around 100%)
This is really frustrating and I don't know if it's just a minor repair thing or if I need to replace the rack.
