Just a few questions regarding my situation

Greetings fellow suffer-mobile enjoyers,
My 8 has a 4 port put together by the last owner and his friends in their garage (so its probably trashed) currently has roughly 30k on it (I'm assuming lol) long story short, its recently been smoking quite a bit, intermittently. Sometimes after a pull, sometimes not. It'd go days without doing it then just boom, does it all day.. I've tried running a tank or two without premixing and it does the same. Speculating its oil control rings taking a dump and/or a weird vacuum leak? Last time I cleaned the throttle body it was stained with oil. A bit after I replaced the 3 solenoids under the UIM since I had codes for them and my oil neck had a lot of foamy oil in it. After that I messed with the OMP positioning a bit, even knowing that the flow is so low that it wouldn't cause visible smoke.. now along with the random smoking problem it keeps throwing itself into limp mode, each time I adjust it, do an ecu reset, it revs fine after startup for about 5 secs then after that its sluggish and tops out at ~4k. Before the limp mode, car ran great, even with the random smoking, starts fine hot and cold, no hesitation, etc. Reading tons of threads leads me to believe that its most likely control rings, but its intermittent, which throws me off Getting rid of this and getting a nice 6 port is the logical thing to do I think haha. But yeah.. just wondering if anyone has had random smoking/constant limp mode like I have lol
Thanks!

Limp mode has only 2 causes and one of them is OMP ( for which you should get a code). So that's probably from your messing with it. Undo whatever you did and make sure everything in the OMP is well aligned and snug.

Oil smoke sounds like oil 8s getting barfed into the intake, which happens at high rpm. After that it lingers and smokes when sucked into the engine. Confirm by checking for fresh oil in the intake. The net result is the same - new engine time, but you can at least mitigate it with an oil catch can.
