I have had my RX-8 since mid November now and just had an accident :*( I just wanted to come here to get some advise on what the best route to repair is. My RX is a 2008 40th Anniversary Edition. There is some damage on the fender and the reflector, as well as a small body gap, and I wondered whether it would be best to just take it into a body shop, replace the parts, go to the dealership or what? Damage
Were it mine, I’d take it to a good body shop. Not the dealer. But I’m real **** about the appearance of my car. You want a shop with a rep for doing great work. So look for a place that handles exotic cars, Porsches, Bentleys, sports cars, even classic restorations. The work will cost a little more, but it will be done right.
In the past, I’ve had work done by cheaper body shops, and inevitably there’s a problem: the paint matches in daylight but not in a parking lot at night, or the paint starts to bubble a year after the repair, etc. Drove me crazy.
Of course, if you’re not **** about this sort of thing, most any ordinary body shop will probably do work that’s good enough.
Thank you for your reply! I am going to have to savesome money either way so I think I will take your advice and get it done right! I am also quite **** about the appearance of my car. I don't know how easy it will be locating an exotic car bodushop in Oklahoma but ill give it my best.

Hmm, you just have to do a bit of research online. Go to the Porsche, Jag or BMW regional forums and search for “good body shop in Oklahoma”. Go to a local “cars and coffee” or muscle car show, walk around, and ask guys who they recommend for body work. And, mind you, it doesn’t have to be “classic car restoration” good! Just has to be a place with a reputation for good work. If you start asking around - online and in person - you’ll discover who does good work.
Also, check out places like this: Classic Car Restoration of OKC
If they’re super $$$ - and they probably are - ask them for a slightly cheaper reco. Work the problem and you’ll find your shop.
