Just Got My 8!

After driving for a year with no accidents or tickets I decided it time to move on to a real car. I went Saturday morning, stopped at 3 dealers and at the 3rd fell in love with the RX-8 I have now. It had just rolled onto the lot from Orlando where the dealer bought it from. Purchased it before the dealer had a chance to clean the car!

She's an automatic which is slightly sad, but all the manuals were run to the ground in my area and I can't drive stick (Yet)
What do you all think? I will probably do a carbon fiber wrap of the front lip and the black part of the rear bumper (do to discoloration). Other than that I'm thinking a dyno tune and removal of the rev and speed limit.
PS I've read up a bunch on the maintenance on the car. Already premixing, redlining occasionally for carbon deposit and all that.
Just one question though: When the A/C and radio are on is it normal for engine to kind of shutter at idle? I read a few posts that seems to say it was normal enough/ok. However I want to make sure!

I'm taking it for a compression test Monday. I'm hoping its still in warranty as it sold on the 25th (the day before I bought it) however the title was not registered until November.
It still has the first engine in it and is at 63XXX miles.

You will usually feel vibration at idle in gear, especially with the a/c on, due to deteriorating motor mounts. They may look fine, but the internal damping ability of them is lowered over time. A new set runs around $350 plus install and does not impact the running of the engine, so many people choose to live with it.
63k on an original auto engine is probably on borrowed time in my experience. I have dealt with 4 auto models thus far; a 110k model with a weak original engine that ran fine, one with 34k on an original engine that was in bad condition; one with about 90k (about half of that on a mazda reman) that was very weak and had to be re-rebuilt, and another with 87k (about half of that on a mazda reman) that had to be rebuilt.
Expect weak numbers, probably in the mid to low 90's. You can still continue to run that way for months or years, up until the threshold where you begin to have difficulties with hot restarting.

Yeah, I have not had any hot start issues so far.
She seems to run great. (better than any others I test drove)
I figured it was engine mounts, just wanted to make sure.![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
If my warranty went up on the 25th (and not in November like I'm so hoping) and the compression is low then I guess I'll just start saving now for a engine replacement.

Looks good.
From what you are describing, I recommend going through the $100 thread in my signature block. Start with MAF and ESS, then grounds. Try to grounds just with star washers. You will have a total of $15 invested and a few hours. Might make a world of difference. Then go through the rest of the list.
Where are you in Florida?

@04green:
"Miami, my aunt lives in Oviedo though. How can you drink your water? I basically get a stomach virus when drinking it. Also I've set aside this weekend for your $100 dollar thread.
"
Regarding the engine shake at idle, Its in sort of a 30 second pulse or so. It shakes a bit then idles smooth then shakes again.

what do you mean when you say not to use the grounding kit and instead clean and use star washers? Is this just on the battery terminal? I think I'm over thinking it Lol.
