Liquid gasket on 13b?

So I bought a 2004 rx-8, bought an engine from a wrecker. It has liquid gasket sealing the oil pan, as well as between the rotor housings. Now I don't believe this is something Mazda would have done. Should I bring it back, or is this common? Thanks in advance.

P.S. I'm guessing because I'm a new member it wouldn't let me post this in the proper forum. Which is pretty stupid.

Yes, it came from Mazda.

I don't know when but they switched to liquid gaskets a while back, they do a great job but are a PITA to scrap off and re-seal when you need too.

Seals pretty well, just don't get any in the 10mm bolt holes - you can crack the housing when you torque 'em up.

'The more you know...'

Don't know if it's official 'Mazda', but my dealer uses Permatex Ultra Grey.

That stuff is magic, but specifically for oil pans they make an 'Ultra Black'.

Ultra Black is exactly what I have, side note looks like the shop that did some work on my car used this stuff on my exhaust as well, and didn't bother with my other gaskets just sealed the outside. Not to happy I need all new gaskets now since this stuff is not even close to being rated high enough for our EGT's
