Loads of engine problems :/
So, I got a used Rx8 a few months ago from a couple and they had said they’d done a compression test and everything on this thing and still they can’t figure and it out and neither can I. So far we have checked and replaced the coils and wires. We checked as many vaccume lines as we could without taking a bunch of stuff off. We got a new intake and filter. We checked o2 sensors and maf sensors and basically every sensor around that has to do with air. We changed out the maf sensor three times and whenever we put it back on it makes the car run worse. There is also oil leaking out from the exaust pipes and smoke coming from the headers. The car won’t rev past 6000 and won’t idle for long even when it’s hot and with the maf sensor in I can’t even floor the peddle and have it rev.the battery keeps dying get we can’t find a problem with the alternator and the battery was checked at auto zone and it was perfectly fine. Please help there is seriously something wrong with this car. I’ll up date if even more problems come along🙃

You gonna eat that?

Did you get the OBD scanned for codes?
Does it have a catalytic converter?
If so, inspect it.
Does it have a stock intake?
Many aftermarket intakes cause problems.
Are you sure the battery terminals are clean and tight?
They can stretch over time and even though the bolts are tight, they're still loose.
Check ground wires.
Start with those.

Well the good news is you figured out many parts that weren't the problem.
I would do 3 things:
- get codes read, if any, and see what the fuel trims are on a warm idle (if not near zero you have a vacuum leak)
- check the solenoids and freedom of movement of the 3 intake valves. This is for the 5000rpm limit.
- oil from what headers? There are no headers on this car. Is there oil in the intake? If so that would explain the smoke and is the result of excessive blowby.
- check the baro sensor. It can mess with the idle
What is the actual compression? The numbers, not whether
the tech thinks it's fine .
