Looking For Input On Possible Purchase

Not sure if this subject fits here, looking at buying an rx8 I found online but the information listed is very limited and the guy who owns it seems to know even less then I do about the car. Would this be a bad buy? I feel like the price is slightly high but you guys would know that better then I ever would. I'm not super familiar with models and whatnot. I asked for interior pics but he hasn't sent any.

Heres the ad:
Rx8 2005 mazda

I skimmed through this thread a bit before posting here, so I hope I don't get yelled at for not looking somewhere else first.

Anyway thanks for any help, been wanting an RX8 for awhile and finally am in a place to possibly purchase.

That price is a bit high if the engine has good compression, it's absurdly high if the engine does not have good compression. So ask the owner for a compression test and go from there.

First and most important, don't skim, study. There is a lot of really important info there for anyone considering buying an 8. Learning the contents might save you a mess of heartache and expense later.
As for the ad car, have you contacted the seller yet? How motivated is he to sell? Does he have service records and is he the first owner or the 10th? Has he had a compression test doe and, if so, what were the results? Another thing to watch for is curbsiders. They buy up cheap cars and try to flog them as their daily driver or hobby car for a profit. In many cases, the cheap car hey bought has issues so a Carfax would be a must to see if it has a clear title or a salvage title.
The price asked in the ad seems a bit on the high side and he could be trying to cash in on mods installed or performed if he, indeed, was a legit seller of a car for the reason stated. That's where motivation comes in. If he needs the money, he should be willing to dicker. One way or other, make sure you see the car up close and examine it carefully. If it appears to be good and drives well, ask for a compression test. If he balks, offer to pay for it. If he still balks, walk away.

Upon rereading the ad, it might be better to pass on this one. The title is listed as "rebuilt" which might indicate it was a rebuilt salvage car. Were it me looking, I wouldn't even bother calling after seeing that but then, that's me.

Just as a guideline, I just read an ad, locally, for an 05 GT MT with 85,000 miles certified and e-tested on a dealer's lot for $7500. Still a tad high, but a guideline as to price range and what to get for the money.
