Mazda RX8 2005 HP Red Velocity

Hi guys!

In april I bought this beauty, 2005 High Power (6 port) Manual, 88.000 kilometers (55.000 miles) on the dash, second owner and well maintained. It is equipped with satnav, HID lights, heated leather seats and DSC. I live in the Netherlands.

The RX8 came with a Borla catback exhaust and a K&N cold air intake. I removed the K&N kit and went back to the original filter for a better sound from the exhaust, instead of all the intake noise.

Coils, plugs and wires have been replaced one year ago, i did a compression test at the dealer and the engine turned out to be in great condition.

Recently changed the starter (2kW), oil & filter, air filter and interior filter.

Just bought the Xcarlink bluetooth kit, some FL22 coolant to replace and flush, new shift boot cover and two stroke oil to start premixing.

Some pictures!

Great find. Interesting that it has the black washer fluid tank, must be an early 05?

I didnt remove the k&n filter from the exhaust, but I put the original airfilter back on.
With the K&N intake kit it is hard to hear the exhaust when you are driving because of the noise from under the hood. Without the K&N intake kit the exhaust is much more audible!

Hi guys, I have a small question, yesterday I noticed that my heated seats passenger switch light is broken.

I guess I have to replace the entire switch to get this small light working again?

Both heated seats are working fine and when I turn them on both have a stronger light that is working as well.

Unless you can take the switch apart and replace the bulb then yeah you need a new switch.

Ok thanks! I will try and see if it's possible when I install the Xcarlink bluetooth kit.

The switch light is miraculously working again after I installed the Xcarlink bluetooth kit. Great product, I took the one with bluetooth built in and it works great.

Recently bought an ELM wifi OBD2 adapter to check coolant temps. Everything seems fine but to be safe I bought the RX8performance coolant fan control kit. This will turn the fans on earlier.

Also bought 10 liters of FL22 coolant and 12 liters of distilled water to flush the coolant system. Pink coolant was present in it (G12?). Flushing was easy with the ramps.

Finally a question for you guys. I recently found out I can start my car without depressing the clutch pedal. As far as I can find on the internet this means one of the two clutch sensors in faulty, how do I know which one?

Still going strong, 102.000 km at the moment. Got some original Mazda winterwheels and replaced the coils. Still love the Borla sound!

Interesting. Those wheels look like the stock 16" for the early "base auto" models, and they fit over your bigger manual trans brakes?

I thought 17" is the smallest you can go.

They are 17 inch! They look a bit different to the base auto models.
