Unhappy Mazda Rx8 "INSERT CORRECT MAP DISC"

Hello folks
i recently purchased a mazda rx8 2008 , Kuro Ediiton
The car runs smooth
i am just having one issue that is with the NAV SYSTEM.... i have the bose 6 cd changer which also works well but once i bought it from the dealer i did not check the DVD PLAYER which is located with the rear passenger seats.
when i open the Nav Screen it says "PLEASE INSERT CORRECT MAP DISC" and also the same in Japanese language..
I recently downloaded a map image and burnt that onto a DVD which doesn't even work

Can someone please tell me how to fix it please?

Regards

I don't know if they're still available.
I tried a couple of old links and none work.
You could try MazdaUSA or Ebay.
Maybe used car part sites.

OP why would you want the CAR navi? Do you still plan to use it for directions? It's not affecting anything else so just ignore it and use your phone for directions?

hey shams, the discs were made by NavTech (sp?) and I remember the updated discs were quite expensive so guys tried burning them onto discs back in the day like you did and the results were very hit or miss whether it would work.
Unfortunately I do not think the discs are still available as system is quite dated now. Heck, the Nav system was already outdated at the time they sold us the car if we're being honest.

As others have mentioned your only real hope at this point is ebay or finding a user who doesn't need theirs anymore but any decent smart phone will have far better navigation than the OEM unit ever had.

I'm probably in the minority, but I think if you have a stock nav system, you would want it to work just because it was part of the car's original equipment.
If you want to sell it to someone it'd be nice to show them it still works.

I always enjoyed using mine on long road trips even though I could use Android GPS.
It would help pass time fiddling with it.
It does have the advantage of having the monitor & controls being ergonomically efficient.
It's easy to use without taking your eyes off the road so much.

There is the old nav hood tablet mod also if you can still find the right size.

drop in the bucket compared to the $10k total full sucker option package.

It’s no wonder Mazda could afford to replace so many Renesis kegs without going bankrupt.

it might help if somebody has a Mazda Part # for it? I’d assume at some point you could buy a replacement, but am not entirely sure.

I believe S1 and S2 navigation DVD had different providers. Also, you have to use a newer update than the one you originally had in the system. If you insert one that's older than whatever that was in there, it would throw up an error as well.

If you want it to work, try getting the newest update possible on eBay, or try asking your dealer to see if they have anything left. IMO, these navigations are more interesting than they are useful at this point, particularly with the S1 unit that flips up and down.
